What is EMV Level 2 ?
EMV Level 2 kernels are developed in compliance with the specifications released by EMVCo® and card payment schemes. They are implemented into payment terminals to manage the payment transaction flow between the card or e-wallet and the smartcard reader.
EMV Level 2 contact transaction
The functions and commands necessary to perform an EMV Chip and PIN transaction are defined in the specifications released by EMVCo®. They are divided into 4 books (ICC to terminal interface, security and key management, application specification, and other interfaces).
EMV Level 2 contactless transaction
Contactless readers must support the functional applications of many card brands according the markets targeted for their deployment. Each payment scheme has defined contactless specifications and testing processes for the certification of contactless payment terminals.
